The major changes are:

• Logbook is now a standalone program - new features include:
  • DX Cluster,
  • Sunspot (Solar Cycle) displays,
  • Audio recorder and monitor ,
  • Greyline display,
  • Support for Microsoft Access (default), MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server,
  • Full networking.
• Digital Master 780:
  • User interface simplified,
  • Added Contestia and RTTYM.
• Satellite Tracking is now a standalone program:
  • Improved display.
• Rotator support is now a standalone program:
  • Point and shoot,
  • DDE tracking,
  • DDE interface,
  • Modern display.

Both HRD v4 and v5 have a built-in IP server which is used by other programs such as Digital Master 780, Logbook and Satellite Tracking. The protocol is described here.

In HRD v4 the default setting for the IP Server was stopped, when started connections were accepted from any address (firewall permitting).

In HRD v5 the default setting for the IP Server is started with connections accepted from the same computer only. To connect to HRD v5 from another computer:

• Select IP Server from the Tools menu,
• Make sure Same PC connections only is not checked,
• Stop and Start the server.
