HRD v4 versus HRD v5

The major changes are:

Connecting To HRD

Both HRD v4 and v5 have a built-in IP server which is used by other programs such as Digital Master 780, Logbook and Satellite Tracking. The protocol is described here.

In HRD v4 the default setting for the IP Server was stopped, when started connections were accepted from any address (firewall permitting).

In HRD v5 the default setting for the IP Server is started with connections accepted from the same computer only. To connect to HRD v5 from another computer:

  • Select IP Server from the Tools menu,
  • Make sure Same PC connections only is not checked,
  • Stop and Start the server.

Importing HRD v4 Logbook

The logbook is fully compatible with HRD v4!

When you start the logbook for the first time the database is empty. From the logbook menu select Import, HRD/DM780 v4.

You can then import your previous HRD and DM780 logbooks with just a few keystrokes.
